The McCallie School is a college preparatory school for boys built on the western slope of Chattanooga’s Missionary Ridge. The siting and design of the Sports and Activities Center provided a new “front door” to the campus. Entering and moving up through the rotunda entrance is a distinctive and memorable experience for students and their families.
This 180,000 sq. ft. facility supports student activities, athletics and recreation. The facility includes a 25 yard by 25 meter natatorium, a 200 meter indoor track, a main performance court with retractable seating for 1,500, two lower basketball courts, a fitness and weight training room two wrestling practice rooms, two racquetball courts, and administrative and support areas. David Greusel led the programming and initial design of the Student Activity Center at the McCallie School.
David Bock provided design support for the project. Its purpose is to support the school’s mission by providing space for physical education, recreation, athletics, and student activities.
