The North Campus is a planned, 30 acre development housing a new elementary and junior high school in a shared facility. Though operationally distinct, the schools share back-of-house support space, and their adjacent cafeterias can be combined to form a larger gathering space for public meetings.
The elementary school is composed of three classroom pods radiating from a central library. Small reading rooms create a village atmosphere in the daylit library, reducing the scale of the building for its younger users. Circulation space is collected into shared learning areas that supplement classroom space with usable space accessible to multiple classrooms.
The junior high is a more traditional plan with academic wings branching off of a main circulation spine. The wings are grouped by academic discipline. The junior high has a separate library and gymnasium, allowing the two schools to operate independently during the school day.
