Monroe County Commissioners are drafting a new agreement with the city of Bloomington because of what they say are transparency issues surrounding the convention center expansion project.

The city scheduled the first meeting with the Kansas City-based Convergence Design architect for Thursday. County commissioners sent a letter addressed to Mayor John Hamilton saying they intend to participate in the meeting, too.

The letter also asks the mayor to “not schedule any future meetings regarding this project with Convergence or any other vendor unless first involving the Steering Committee and Monroe County.”

Hamilton says the city is following the Memorandum of Understanding signed in October. He says the city is the contracting entity, and the meeting is to have those kind of discussions with the new architect.
