PNC Park ranked best in MLB--again

July 28, 2015

Summary: In a survey by Ballpark Digest, PNC Park in Pittsburgh topped the rankings of Major League ballparks. Convergence Design founder David Greusel served as lead designer for the ballpark (Astorino was architect of record), which continually ranks as one of the best in baseball. Or in this case, the best.

PITTSBURGH--Pirates fans already knew this to be the case, but now it’s official: PNC Park has been voted the Best MLB Ballpark by Ballpark Digest readers.

A total of 91,000 people voted PNC Park as the winner in the “Best of the Ballparks” competition.

    Stories of the day...

“There are so many outstanding MLB ballparks out there, and our readers certainly know quality when they see it,” said Kevin Reichard, Ballpark Digest publisher. “With a lovely Allegheny River location and the ultimate site in downtown Pittsburgh, PNC Park combines a timeless design with everything fans expect in a modern ballpark.”

Designed by Populous, the $262 million home of the Pirates opened on April 9, 2001, offering visitors an incredible view of downtown Pittsburgh and the Roberto Clemente Bridge.

“We are proud of this distinction for PNC Park, especially the recognition is provided by such an informed group of voters. This honor is a testament to the vision of all of those who played a part in the design and construction of PNC Park, and to the men and women of the Pirates staff who work tirelessly to make certain the guest experience in PNC Park matches the brilliance of the ballpark itself,” said Pirates President Frank Coonelly.
