SIOUX CITY | A consultant on Friday unveiled more than $60 million worth of potential upgrades to the Tyson Events Center aimed at helping the Sioux City venue better compete with event centers in Omaha, Sioux Falls and Lincoln.
During a joint meeting of the City Council and the Events Facility Advisory Board (EFAB), Tennessee-based Venue Solutions Group laid out a list of possible short- to long-term improvements, from adding smartphone charging stations to adding a 15,000 square foot atrium at the main entrance.
Tom Williams, a partner with Venue Solutions, laid out the possibilities, starting with short-term items, which include expanded Wi-Fi access, a walk-in convenience store for visitors to buy prepackaged food, a novelty stand, a new video board and ribbons, additional suites and open boxes in the back of the lower bowl.
Mid-term changes could include an entry plaza and club on the southwest side
